2018 Maruti Ciaz Facelift Expected Prices: Will It Undercut Honda City And Toyota Yaris?

With bookings already underway for Rs 11,000 and a launch slated for 20 August, we assess how much it might cost

After dilly-dallying for long, Maruti Suzuki has, at last, finalised the launch date of the 2018 Ciaz facelift. The sedan will be launched on 20 August 2018 with some visual changes, a new petrol engine and new features too. We assess what impact these could have on the final price of the Ciaz.

We expect the Ciaz facelift to be a little more expensive than the outgoing version. The reasons for the increase in price could be:

1. More standard equipment: The outgoing Ciaz gets dual airbags, ISOFIX mounts and ABS with EBD as standard. The 2018 model will get the added support of ESP (electronic stability program), traction control and hill start assist as standard.

2. New features: While Maruti Suzuki will bolster the Ciaz’ standard safety kit, it would also add some new features to its kitty. The Ciaz facelift will get auto LED projector headlamps and cruise control too. The Zeta and Alpha variants might also get 16-inch new multi-spoke alloy wheels and LED fog lamps.

3. New petrol engine with SHVS: The outgoing Ciaz’ 1.4-litre petrol engine will make way for a new 1.5-litre unit. More importantly, like the diesel Ciaz, the petrol version will also be offered with mild-hybrid SHVS tech which might add some premium to its sticker price.
