Actress Zareen Khan’s mother, Parveen Khan, breathed her last after a prolonged illness on Wednesday (April 8) in Mumbai. The news of Zareen Khan’s mother's death was confirmed in an official statement from the actor's team.
"This is to inform that our beloved Ms Parveen Khan, mother of Zareen Khan and Sana Khan, has departed peacefully to her heavenly abode on the 8th of April (sic)," the statement read.
The statement also mentioned, "Funeral - 10 am, 8th April 2026."
Zareen had earlier spoken about her mother’s ill health and had asked fans to pray for her speedy recovery.
In 2016, after her mother underwent heart surgery, the actress had reportedly decided to take a break from work to take care of her. Reportedly, Zareen was the only earner at home.
In a 2021 interview with Hindustan Times, Zareen opened up about the tough phase during the Covid-19 lockdown, when her mother fell sick. "It has been a while her health hasn’t been up to the mark. She’s still not 100 percent stable, so most of my focus is on her and getting her health back to normal," she said.
Her mother was her priority, and most of her work got stuck as she had to look after her.
"If anything goes wrong with my mom, I can’t function. I’m a very strong willed, headstrong person and all that, but when it comes to her, she’s my strength as well as my weakness. I couldn’t concentrate on anything else and was disconnected from my work. I didn’t pay attention to any of it, anything that was happening workwise at that time," she added.
