Two global music legends - AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer have teamed up to compose the music of upcoming mythological saga, Ramayana, which is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and is backed by Prime Focus Studios and Monster Mind Creations. On Thursday, Rahman shared a heartwarming selfie with the German-American music legend, which has sent fans into a frenzy.

On Thursday, July 3, the first glimpse of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana, was unveiled. Netizens were left awestruck to witness the visual and auditory spectacle. Apart from revealing the main cast of the magnum opus, the video also credited AR Rahman and Hans Zimmer as the music composers of the highly anticipated monumental project.

On the same day, AR Rahman took to his Instagram handle to share a picture with Hans Zimmer, with a caption, "With @hanszimmer #ramayanamovie (sic),” as both the legends posed for a happy selfie.

The first glimpse of Ramayana, has already been lauded not just for its high-end visuals, but also also for the impactful score. With Hans Zimmer on board with AR Rahman, the two genius will surely create magic with their music, which is expected to stay in the minds and hearts of the audience for a longer time.

Who is Hans Zimmer?

Hans Zimmer is making his Bollywood debut as a music composer in Ramayana. His collaboration with AR Rahman is indeed a surprise for Indian fans. For those unversed, the legendary score composer and music producer, is a big name in Hollywood. He has composed music for over 100 films, including blockbusters like Pirates of the Caribbean series, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, The Da Vinci Code, The Last Samurai, Man of Steel, Dunkirk, Angels & Demons, Sherlock Holmes, Interstellar, Inception and Dune, among others.

Zimmer, who has been nominated twelve times for the Academy Awards, has won two Oscars for Best Original Score, for The Lion King and Dune. His other awards includes a BAFTA Award, three Golden Globe Awards, four Grammy Awards, two Critics' Choice Movie Award, and four Classic Brit Awards, among others.

About Ramayana

Ramayana also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari, Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, and Vivek Oberoi are also part of the stellar cast.

The film will be released in two parts: Part 1 will arrive on Diwali 2026, followed by Part 2 on Diwali 2027.

It has been produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios and 8 times Oscar Winning VFX Studio, DNEG, in collaboration with Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
