It is celebrations galore after Dhanush's highly-anticipated film, Kuberaa released in theatres today, June 20. The film clashed with Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par. Kuberaa marks Dhanush's first Telugu film and his first release of the year. After watching the first show, netizens have shared their reviews on X.

Dhanush has been receiving widespread praise for his role of a beggar. He has been hailed for delivering his 'career best' performance. Some even said that he deserves an 'Oscar' for his riveting act. Netizens also praised the screenplay, Sekhar Kammula's direction, background score and performances of Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna.

Dhanush plays a beggar named Deva, who revolts against the corrupt politicians and businessmen, including Jim Sarbh. Nagarjuna plays a powerful man with a grey shade. He helps Dhanush to get rid of poverty. The film shows the battle between power, money and ethics, and Dhanush's Deva throws a whole government into risk.

Kuberaa has been simultaneously shot in Telugu and Tamil, and it has been released in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi. The social drama has been bankrolled by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao, and presented by Sonali Narang. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music of the film.

It was cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with an UA certificate, after 19 scenes were removed from the original cut.

Dhanush left no stone unturned to play his part, as a beggar. Earlier, at the pre-release event of the film in Hyderabad, the National award-winning actor revealed that he begged on the streets of Tirupati in character. 

"I agreed to the film immediately, trusting the director’s name and reputation. But in the end, he made me beg on the streets of Tirupati. Kuberaa is my 51st Tamil film and my second Telugu film after Sir. In fact, Sekhar Sir had approached me with the script of Kuberaa even before Sir," he said.
