Veteran actor Satish Shah, known for his iconic role of Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, passed away on Saturday (October 25) due to kidney failure. He was 74. Shah was admitted to Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital, where he died at around 2:30 pm. His last rites were performed on Sunday, attended by his Sarabhai vs Sarabhai co-stars, including Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, Rajesh Kumar, and Deven Bhojani and other celebs like  JD Majethia, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Pankaj Kapur, and Supriya Pathak, among others. Satish Shah's prayer meet was held on Monday at Jalaram Hall in Juhu, Mumbai, where prominent celebs from the entertainment industry came together to pay their final tributes.

Several leading filmmakers and stars arrived to pay their last respects to Satish Shah. Rakesh Roshan, David Dhawan, and Shatrughan Sinha were seen attending the prayer meet. Johny Lever, Poonam Dhillon, Divya Dutt, Bhuvan Bam, Padmini Kolhapure, Sonu Nigam, Nitish Bharadwaj, and the Sarabhai vs Sarabhai cast also attended the solemn event.

Satish Shah's wife, Madhu, who is currently battling Alzheimer’s disease, also attended the prayer meet. Despite her ill health, she paid an emotional tribute to her late husband by crooning Shah's favourite song Tere Mere Sapne with Sonu Nigam.

Satish Shah's death reason

According to Shah's manager, Ramesh Kadatala, Shah was having lunch, around 2 pm, and collapsed after having one bite. "The ambulance arrived after half an hour, and we took him to the hospital, and he was declared dead," he said as per a report in India Today.

Satish Shah's career

Over his career spanning more than four decades, Shah worked in both films and television. He was known for his perfect comic timing and made people laugh with his memorable roles in films like Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Fanaa, Om Shanti Om and others. He worked in over 250 films.

On television, his best work still remains Sarabhai vs Sarabhai. Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. Filmi Chakkar, Ghar Jamai, and Comedy Circus are some of his other works.
