‘Major’

A biography of courage and patriotism makes for a perfect watch this Republic Day, 'Major' is based on the life of Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who was martyred in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, it stars Sesh as Unnikrishnan and co-stars Prakash Raj, and Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Revathi, Murali Sharma, and Anish Kuruvilla. The movie depicts one of the most gruesome acts of terrorism in India when a group of terrorists attacked high-footfall public spots across Mumbai and the final battle that took place in the Taj Hotel. While the whole city was going through a nightmare, Major showcases the life of a soldier who gave up his own life to save the lives of every civilian in the hotel.

‘Satyameva Jayate 2’

It is an official sequel to the 2018 film ‘Satyameva Jayate’ and is based on the struggle against injustice and the abuse of power. John Abraham dons triple characters for the first time, along with Divya Khosla Kumar, Rajeev Pillai, and Anup Soni in pivotal roles. This Republic Day, the movie is a must-see as it explores corruption in all spheres, involving everyone from police and politicians to businesspeople and everyday people. In a series of dramatic events where a group of corrupt politicians and their allies are on a spree of wronging the citizens of the country. Satya, the vigilante secretly conducts his mission to eliminate the people who won’t stop their wrongdoings. However, Satya’s brother Jay who is a police officer is handed over the case of catching the vigilante and is onto him. ‘Mother India’

‘Mother India’, a classic film, featuring Nargis, Raaj Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, and Sunil Dutt. ‘Mother India’ is a 1957 Indian epic drama film directed by Mehboob Khan. The film Mother India tells the tale of Radha, a villager who lives in abject poverty and is portrayed by Nargis. Without her husband, Radha battles a cunning moneylender while trying to raise her two sons. But despite her challenges, she consistently upholds her moral principles and works to instil the same in her sons. It was also nominated for Best Foreign language film at the prestigious Academy Award.

‘Pyaasa’

Guru Dutt directed and produced the 1957 multi-star film, ‘Pyaasa’, in which he co-starred with Mala Sinha, Waheeda Rehman, Rehman, and Johnny Walker. The story of ‘Pyaasa’ revolves around the disillusioned Urdu poet Vijay, whose works are dismissed by publishers and derided for focusing on social issues rather than romantic ones. The film follows his interactions with the golden-hearted prostitute Gulabo and his former girlfriend Meena, including how the former assists him in getting his poetry published, the success of his works, and his romantic relationship with Gulabo. A classic that you shouldn't miss, ‘Pyaasa’ is regarded as one of the greatest films ever made.
