Ranbir Kapoor Reflects On Playing A Son In ‘Animal’: I Wish I Could Be Friends With My Father Rishi Kapoor

While promoting ‘Animal’ in Hyderabad, Ranbir Kapoor talked about portraying the character of a son in ‘Animal’.

During the promotional tour for his upcoming film ‘Animal’ in Hyderabad, Ranbir Kapoor joined co-stars Bobby Deol and Rashmika Mandanna. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film explores the tumultuous father-son relationship, and it led Ranbir to reflect on his own experiences with his late father, Rishi Kapoor.

At the press meet in Hyderabad, Ranbir got candid about his relationship with his father and how portraying the character of a son in ‘Animal’ made him recollect those emotions in him.

He said, “I lost my father and I feel everyone who loses a parent, they feel they haven’t spent enough time with them. While I was growing up, my father was very busy. Shooting most of the time, doing double shifts, he was travelling. So, somewhere we saw him with a lot of love and respect but there was never really a friendly relationship between us. We could not just sit and chat and I have this one regret in my life that I wish I could be friends with my father. I wish I could share everything with him. That is one regret I will always live with.”

He further praised Sandeep for writing these complex characters of him, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika and Bobby.

He said, “I think the way he writes is that he makes these characters so real onscreen and makes them cinematic. So whatever you see as an audience, you will connect with us. You will see so many emotions and you will be like, ‘Wow this also happened in my life.’ I, as an actor, while performing the scenes, felt that a lot. So, a lot of credit for this film, the attitude of the characters goes to only one person here and that’s SRV.”

The film features Bobby Deol as the main antagonist and co-stars Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri, and Shakti Kapoor among others. It will release on December 1 and will clash at the box office with Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Sam Bahadur’, which is helmed by Meghna Gulzar.
