Navya Nanda Says Brother Agastya Nanda Can ‘Make Tea For Guests’: My Mother Has Raised Both Of Us Similarly

Not to miss, Navya Nanda had previously stated that she has experienced ingrained sexism at home.

Navya Naveli Nanda, who previously talked about the ingrained sexism that she experiences at home, has now mentioned how household duties are divided equally between her and her brother, Agastya Nanda. Navya and Agastya, grandchildren of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, have lived most of their lives in New Delhi with their parents, Shweta Bachchan and Nikhil Nanda.

In a recent interview with Josh Talks, Navya revealed how she has grown up in an egalitarian environment, adding that both she and her brother have started making their own money. While Navya is a social entrepreneur, Agastya is all set to make his acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’.

When asked about an earlier comment about handling the finances at home, Navya said in Hindi, “I’ll tell you something my grandmother told me, which I’ll always remember. She said that women are the best entrepreneurs, they are born with management skills… A housewife’s job at home is no different from what a CEO of a company does… My mother has raised me and my brother in a similar way.”

She added, “The responsibility of financing and budgeting was split equally between us. And now that we are both earning independently, we understand the value of money. I do what my brother does, and he does what I do. I can handle household finances, but if guests are coming over, he can make tea for them.”

Previously, in an interview with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, Shweta Bachchan had mentioned how she has not been ‘even-handed’ in raising her two children. “I’ve been tougher on Navya, because I feel the world isn’t easy on women, and you have to be that much stronger, and that much more vigilant and careful,” she said.

In an interview with SheThePeople, Navya had also stated, “I have seen this happen at my home where if guests are over, my mother would always tell me to fetch something or the other. I have to play the host as opposed to my brother who could also be doing the same thing.”
