Why make a comeback with a show on jewellery?
Why make a comeback with a show on jewellery?
The show actually utilises jewellery as a metaphor to explore Indian culture across five cities, each with its own unique way of making ornaments.
So it’s a show for the ladies?
I wasn’t thinking of the target audience. All the ingredients—my passion for India, my curiosity about jewellery, and this being the right time to make a comeback—was appealing.
Any memorable adventures while shooting?
There were many. Like the time I was to emerge from the backwaters in Kerala, and the crew was so worried that the jewellery would get washed away during that shoot!
Do you identify with the Indian craze for jewellery?
I have a fascination for culture, and it’s really interesting to see how deeply the concept of jewellery is integrated in Indian tradition.
How is shooting for TV different from films?
I get a chance to show my own personality, and share my point of view.
So you prefer TV over films?
Why not do both? I was recently in a play with Kabir Bedi which was well-received, and I have done a short film too.
You were recently at iifa in Toronto, where your first carpet appearance after your recovery from cancer made news.
I was thrilled to be there; it was appropriate because I’m from Toronto.
Have you missed being in films while you were away?
Since I had a health issue, I was not thinking about anything but my recovery. But I shared the entire experience on my blog.
What kind of films excite you?
Right now, I’m in the mood for lighter films.
Have you signed a film yet?
I will be making announcements about that soon.
