In an interview with Zoom, recalling an ordeal, Kalki said the incident occurred while she was still a student in London and had gone to the Cannes Film Festival as a promo girl for a mobile brand.

She said that an Indian producer, who knew someone connected to her mother, invited her to his film screening. Later, he asked her out for dinner. When she asked him about work opportunities, he clearly told her that she had to "be with him" to get work.

The 41-year-old actor also spoke about yet another disturbing experience in Mumbai when she entered the film industry. It was during the audition of a major film, a producer told her that he would like to "get to know her better."

Recounting the incident, Kalki shared, "Other time it happened when I went for an audition here for a film, and the producer said, 'You want to do this film? That's great, but I need to get to know you because it's a big launch. So it was basically the same, like, 'Come out, let's go out for dinner,' So then again I was like sorry, 'I don't want to waste your time or mine'."
