Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy, best known for his role as Monkey D. Luffy in the live-action adaptation of Netflix's One Piece, has expressed his love for Indian cinema and desire to work in Bollywood. He is currently basking in the success of One Piece Live Action Season 2, which premiered on March 10, 2026.

Godoy now wants to explore art beyond borders, especially in India. He admires Indian cinema, showering praise on SS Rajamouli's blockbuster RRR, which starred actor Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in lead roles.

Iñaki Godoy calls RRR his favourite Indian film

“I love RRR. That’s an awesome movie,” he told Hindustan Times, adding that language or geography has never been a barrier when it comes to good storytelling.

“A good movie is a good movie. I want to do good films, so count me in,” he said further, and shared his desire to work in Bollywood. “Bollywood, I’m waiting. Knock on the door,” added the 22-year-old.

Godoy on massive response to One Piece

On the success of the Netflix show, he said, “When you’re doing something, you always hope for the best, but things are difficult. Everybody is fighting for people’s attention.”

“There’s so much stuff to watch, even on your phone, so I always keep my expectations a little bit low.”

It took him by surprise when people enjoyed the show so much and started talking about it and sharing it with others. “The organic growth of the fandom has been one of the most rewarding aspects of the journey,” he added.

One Piece Season 2 was released with eight episodes. It marked the return of the Straw Hat crew—Iñaki Godoy (Luffy), Emily Rudd (Nami), Mackenyu (Zoro), Jacob Romero (Usopp), and Taz Skylar (Sanji).
