73rd Primetime Emmy Awards: ‘The Crown’ And ‘The Mandalorian’ Lead The Nominations

Emmy-winning father-daughter duo Ron Cephas Jones and Jasmine Cephas Jones announced the nominations for the 73rd Emmy Awards on Tuesday night

Nominations for the upcoming 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards were announced on Tuesday night. The popular Netflix series ‘The Crown’ and Star Wars’ spin-off ‘Tha Mandalorian’ led the nominations with 24 nominations on the night.
‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ which has previously won Emmys as well secured 11 nominations, Marvel Cinematic Universe’s ‘WandaVision’ with 23 nominations, popular American comedy show’ Ted Lasso’ with eight nominations were some of the other big names.
On Monday, it was also announced that Cedric the entertainer will be hosting the ceremony which will take place in the Microsoft Theatre, Los Angeles US, in front of a live audience. This will be the award ceremony’s return in front of a live audience after the 2020 Emmy Awards took place virtually due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The Television Academy also announced a welcome change for the Emmys to be more inclusive of gender-non-conforming individuals, according to which a nominee or winner of any acting category can request they be recognised with "Performer"- a more gender-neutral title on their nomination certificate and Emmy trophy.
