The fact that RGV’s spending more time in Hyderabad is worrisome. Bollywood, please, please, take him back.

As in most thrillers, lead characters land in trouble when they take shortcuts through the forest. The shady trio at the reception counter hands them keys to a musty room. Rani (Charmme) and Sudhir (Ravi Teja) hear scary noises; a request for the menu results in goons landing outside their room. The ensuing game of hide and seek, a kidnapped businessman, Narayan Murthy (Brahmanandam), cop Shiva (Lakshmi Manchu) with her Yank twang, gunshots, hiding in cupboards and lots of been there, heard that dialogue form the crux of Ramu’s latest instrument of torture. Meat in the plot? Charmme’s derriere and thighs captured through low-angle shots. Comedian Brahmanandam shines in his short role, and a bespectacled Ravi Teja, who takes on the gang of goons with his supposed comic lines and fisticuffs, does his best. But one gets the feeling that he’s here just to be part of Ramu’s experiment.
RGV has written the weary script and dialogues himself, probably on a paper napkin. That’s why lines are repeated by actors, seemingly to induce comedy. Dongala Mutha reportedly stayed within a budget of Rs 6.5 lakh and the director has choreographed the action scenes as well. That explains why the characters keep moving from one broken room to another in the resort till you want to scream “Get it over with”. And it certainly is not in the middle of the forest as RGV would like us to believe. This is because you can see some buildings in the backdrop. Did those come for free too?
RGV’s last Telugu film, Katha, Screenplay, Darshakatvam, Appalaraju, released about a month back, made audiences wince. Dongala Mutha gives us no respite. And the fact that he’s spending more time in Hyderabad is worrisome. Bollywood, please, please, take him back.
