The magnificent men and women who populate the world as depicted in Bollywood films hardly ever seem to spend any time in literary pursuits. If they do, it is usually to write a poem or two of their own. Indeed, poets are common enough, and we sometimes bump into a few authors too. What is relatively uncommon in a Hindi film, however, is a major character reading a real book.
