The first trailer for Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia anime has been unveiled, offering a closer look at its world while confirming the main voice cast. According to official updates, the series adapts Tomato Soup’s manga and is being positioned as a historical fantasy set against the rise of the Mongol Empire.
The newly released footage introduces key characters and the emotional tone of the story. It has been confirmed that Miyu Irino will voice Shira, Jun Saito will voice Muhammad, Akira Sekine will voice Shitara, Houko Kuwashima will voice Fatima and Ryota Suzuki will voice Tolui. Character visuals featuring the central cast have also been shared alongside the trailer.
Set in the 13th century, the narrative follows a young girl named Sitara, whose life is shaped by loss and displacement. It has been described that she is separated from her homeland and left without support before being taken in by a family of scholars, where knowledge becomes her means of survival.
At the same time, it has been established that the Mongol Empire, under Genghis Khan, continues its rapid expansion. As this force approaches Sitara’s world, her quiet life is disrupted, setting larger events into motion. The story has been framed as one of resilience, identity and power unfolding across a vast historical landscape.
The project is being led by Naoko Yamada as executive director at Science SARU, with Abel Gongora directing. Series composition is being handled by Kanichi Kato, while Kenichi Yoshida is overseeing character design and animation direction. Music is being composed by Koshiro Hino.
The anime has also been selected for the TV Films competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.
Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia is scheduled to premiere in Japan in July 2026.
