Ajay Devgn Starrer Son Of Sardaar 2 Postponed; New Release Date Announced

Ajay Devgn starrer comedy drama Son of Sardaar 2, with Mrunal Thakur, has been postponed. The film which was scheduled for theatrical release on July 25, 2025, has now been pushed to August. The makers, on Saturday, took to social media to announce the new release date.

Son of Sardaar 2 will now have box office clash with Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri's Dhadak 2, on August 1, 2025.

The makers shared the new release date of Son of Sardaar 2 on Instagram, with a new promotional poster and wrote, "Jassi Paaji and toli will see you in cinemas worldwide on 1st August 2025 (sic)".

The reason behind the delay is not revealed yet. However, a source told Bollywood Hungama that the makers have taken the decision due to Saiyaara's performance at the box office.

A trade expert informed the portal, "It is a very wise and correct decision by the team of Son Of Sardaar 2. Saiyaara is unstoppable and with SOS 2’s postponement, it’ll get a healthy two-week run. Then, Son Of Sardaar 2 will arrive on August 1 and take over. This way, it’ll be a win-win situation for both the movies and also the exhibition sector at large."

The trailer was unveiled recently, where Ajay is seen reprising his character Jassi, the lively sardaar. Set against the backdrop of Scotland, the movie promises to be a laughter riot.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, it has a stellar ensemble cast including Chunky Panday, Ravi Kishan, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Sanjay Mishra, Vindu Dara Singh, Dolly Ahluwalia, Ashwini Kalsekar, Roshni Walia, Sharat Saxena, and Sahil Mehta. It is also the final movie of actor Mukul Dev, who passed away on May 23, 2025.

Son of Sardaar 2 is presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, A Devgn Films and SOS 2 Limited production, and is produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande.
