'Rick and Morty: The Anime' Teaser Trailer Takes You On Intergalactic Adventures

Adult Swim has finally revealed a teaser trailer for the spin-off series, 'Rick and Morty: The Anime.'

The much-loved 'Rick and Morty' Season 7 came to an end with its final episode airing on December 17, leaving fans eager for the next season. Now, Adult Swim recently unveiled a trailer for the highly anticipated spin-off series, 'Rick and Morty: The Anime,' expected to premiere in 2024.

Ahead of its release, a sneak peek has been given into the adventures of Morty and his scientist grandfather. The one-minute trailer teases their intergalactic missions alongside Rick's granddaughter Summer. The spin-off series is set to air on Max and Adult Swim in the upcoming year, although no release date has been given yet.

Director Takashi Sano addressed the burden of living up to the original show's legacy with 'Rick and Morty: The Anime' and discussed his efforts in making the 10-episode spin-off series. His goal is to infuse the 'Rick and Morty' universe with a unique Japanese touch by condensing his favourite aspects, aiming to capture the essence of Adult Swim's renowned show.

The cast members include Yōhei Tadano as Rick Sanchez, Keisuke Chiba as Morty Smith, Manabu Muraji as Jerry Smith, Akiha Matsui as Summer Smith, and Jun Irie as Beth Smith.

While some fans were excited about the new spin-off series, and some showed dissatisfied with the animation, there were mixed feelings as well. One X user wrote, “Looks both horrible and amazing at the same time, can’t wait.” Another one said, “So it's a worse version of the original, in Japanese.” One more expressed, “The animation looks terrible, but I’ll check it out.”

It's amazing how the duo is receiving their own anime series. It's a truly distinctive way to expanding the franchise rather than opting for a typical spin-off. The drawings that have been shown in the teaser trailer are spectacular to say the least. Depending on how well the spin-off series does, one can only expect them to be included in the canon series.
