Carrie Bernans, who has starred in 'Black Panther' and 'Paradise City,' did not kick off the New Year on a good note. As per a report by PEOPLE magazine, Carrie, aged 29, was a victim of a hit-and-run in New York on January 1, 2024. She was severely injured when a car crashed the outdoor seating area of the Chirp restaurant in Manhattan at 1:30 AM.

According to her representative, she has sustained many fractures, broken bones and chipped teeth. She was taken to the hospital immediately and is in a stable condition as of now. Luckily, at the time of her accident, her newborn baby wasn't present.

The police statements said, "Officers on foot attempted to de-escalate the situation and ordered the male operator of the vehicle to put the vehicle into park. The male failed to obey the officers' orders and fled westbound on 33rd Street before making a right turn onto 7th Avenue counter flow to traffic."

They added, "The Mercedes then turned onto westbound West 34th Street where he mounted the sidewalk and began travelling westbound. The male then struck a food cart and two 39-year-old female pedestrians, a 31-year-old female pedestrian, and a 29-year-old female pedestrian." Furthermore, two officers were also injured in the incident "along with the passenger of the Mercedes after the driver mounted the curb onto the sidewalk again" before striking "two unoccupied parked vehicles and a 2022 Toyota Camry in the roadway."

The police have declared that the "officers were then able to remove the operator and place him into custody."

Taking to Instagram, the victim's mother, Patricia Lee, has shared a series of photos and videos, graphically depicting how badly the actress has been hurt, along with a detailed explanation, requesting everyone to pray for her.

She later also put out an updated message, which said: "Thank you everyone for your prayers and support for my daughter, Carrie. She continues to be under the care of the hospital. Though she's not capable of walking unassisted, she is maintaining hopeful spirits, believing God will bring her through this. Thank you for your continued prayers."

Many friends, families and fans have also taken to social media to wish her luck and speedy recovery.
