Uttarakhand To Launch Month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ On PM Modi’s Birthday

Uttarakhand will organise a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17, 2026, to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the campaign during a press conference at the state secretariat on Saturday.

Dhami said the campaign aimed to connect the people of Uttarakhand with the goal of Viksit Bharat 2047 through service, dialogue, public participation and innovation.

According to the Chief Minister, 11 major programmes will be organised during the campaign. Students, young people, women, beneficiaries of government schemes, parents, elected representatives, social organisations and other citizens will be encouraged to participate.

The campaign will also inform people about important government decisions and welfare schemes. Stories showing how different schemes have transformed beneficiaries’ lives will be shared with the public.

Lamps to Spread the Message of Service

Under the ‘Aashirwad Ka Diya’ programme, lamps will be lit and community events organised at centres associated with government schemes, cooking gas distribution centres, ration shops, religious places and ghats along the Ganga.

New medical colleges, dams, bridges and Amrit Sarovars will also be included in these activities. Social organisations will be encouraged to participate and help expand the programme’s reach.

Children to Present Their Vision of India

Under ‘Mere Sapnon Ka Bharat - Chitra Seva’, painting, essay-writing and speech competitions will be organised in schools and other educational institutions across the state.

The competitions will focus on the idea of a developed India and the country’s progress over the next 25 years. Paintings by the best-performing students will be displayed in schools. Parents and local residents will also be invited to visit these exhibitions.

Plays and Anganwadi Activities

The ‘Namo Seva - Ankahi Kahaniyan’ initiative will feature plays in schools based on stories about India’s achievements and development.

Under ‘Aangan Milan Seva’, different activities will be organised at Anganwadi centres with the participation of children, parents, Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers.

The programme will spread awareness about maternal and child health, nutrition and child welfare. Parents will be personally invited to participate in these activities.

Beneficiaries to Share Their Experiences

The ‘Seva Ki Kahaniyan’ programme will highlight the experiences of people who have benefited from central and state government schemes. Stories about the changes in their lives will be presented through speeches, paintings and story-writing activities.

Under the proposed ‘Seva Jyoti Kalash Yatra’, a ceremonial kalash representing the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 will be installed at a prominent intersection. Bicycle and motorcycle rallies are also planned.

Citizens to Participate in Community Service

The ‘Seva: Mera Yogdan’ programme will encourage citizens to participate in tree plantation, cleanliness drives, teaching and other community-orientated activities. The government aims to make people active partners in the campaign.

Under the ‘Seva Setu Abhiyan’, camps will be organised around the theme ‘Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar’. These camps will provide information about central and state government schemes and help eligible people access their benefits. Health and multipurpose camps will also be organised.

Rangoli to Showcase the Viksit Bharat Vision

Under ‘Seva Ke Rang, Rashtra Ke Sang’, the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 will be presented creatively through rangoli designs.

The ‘Seva First Innovation Challenge’ will invite government departments to identify practical problems affecting people’s everyday lives. Innovative ideas will then be encouraged to find solutions to these challenges.

IITs, IIMs and domain experts are proposed to be involved as jury members and mentors. Selected innovations will receive guidance, support and testing facilities. Assistance will also be provided for securing the necessary approvals and completing regulatory procedures.

Dhami said the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan would not remain limited to a government programme. It would be developed into a wider public movement through extensive citizen participation. The campaign, he added, would strengthen Uttarakhand’s connection with the national goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Modi’s Special Bond with Uttarakhand

The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Modi shares a special emotional bond with Uttarakhand and has always considered ‘Devbhoomi’ close to his heart.

He said every citizen had an important role in achieving the goal of a developed India, with young people expected to make a particularly significant contribution.

The Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will be organised on a wide scale in every district of Uttarakhand. Ministers in charge of the respective districts will also participate in the programmes.

Dhami recalled that Prime Minister Modi had described the third decade of the 21st century as Uttarakhand’s decade. He said the state government remained committed to advancing this goal with public cooperation.

Cabinet Minister Khajan Das, Ram Singh Kaira and Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari were also present at the press conference.
