Affidavit To Clarify Situation with regard to Legal representation
I, Smt Zakia Ahsan Jafri, aged 73 years of age in permanent residence at 25, Alvi Row House, Behind Aziz Mohammed Community Hall Gorat, Surat 395009 and presently residing with my sister at Alishaan Apartments, Building B 3 Char Rasta,First Floor, Behind Alishaan Complex, Dani Limda Char Rasta, Ahmedabad do affirm and state as under:-
1. I say and submit that my advocate Shri Sadik Shaikh has brought to my attention a letter sent by the Shri Himanshu Shukla, DCP and IO SIT Gandhinagar dated 30.5.2012. While agreeing to the inspection directed by this Hon’ble Court Shri Shukla has made some unwarranted observations that need to be set straight, on record. Before making my brief submissions I would like to record my pain and anguish at the continued efforts by the SIT to divert issues from the important matters on hand.
2. I say and submit that with no prejudice to the directions vis-à-vis the presence of advocates while inspection of the illegible records is on I would like to state that the legal assistance being provided to me and my family by Smt Teesta Setalvad of the Citizens for Justice and Peace is the only method through which a hapless widow and victim of the heinous violence of 2002 could have approached the Courts from district court to the Supreme Court and accessed the Courts of justice. Even today to enable and ensure that I, as complainant remain on top of the procedures and processes I and my family will be continued to be assisted by Smt Teesta Setalvad and her organisation.
3. I further say and submit that the journey that this case has taken has been long and treacherous with voluminous records and facts. To enable me to make fair representation it will become necessary for me to continually avail of the assistance being provided by Smt Teesta Setalvad and her organisation. To ensure that this happens within the confines of procedure I am ensuring that a full Power of Attorney is given to her.

4. I say and submit that the facts contained in the paras 1 to 3 are true and have been explained to me in Hindustani/Hindi.
