The Madras High Court has asked the Chennai police to submit a report on the 'missing' lawmakers amidst complaints by the supporters of Panneerselvam that the MLAs had been detained by the Sasikala camp.

The issue created a controversy and even a social media campaign to find the 'missing' law makers.

ANI reported that the Madras HC has sought a report from the police about complaints on the AIADMK legislators being taken as hostage. According to The Times of India, taking note of the allegation that at least 20 MLAs were refusing to take food and water because they had been kept in confinement, the court said, "If true, it is a matter of serious concern."

The MLAs from the ruling AIADMK were taken to hotels and resorts amidst the political uncertainty after a tussle emerged between chief minister O Panneerselvam and the party chief VK Sasikala. Both Sasikala and Panneerselvam camps are reportedly trying hard to win the number game to form the government in the state. One of the MLAs left a bus midway for a "bathroom break" and later joined the Panneerselvam camp. Another lawmaker's husband reported her missing in a court petition.

Meanwhile, law makers from the Sasikala camp claimed that they were not children to be abducted and dismissed allegation of their detention.

Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao is slated to call both Sasikala and Panneerselvam to prove their majority.
