Here’s your chance to be adventurous on the last weekend of 2014. The highest point trek at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, organised by BNHS, in Mumbai is a medium-category trek that starts from the Kanheri caves. It will take you through the lush green forests and narrow trails in the middle of thick Karvi bushes that will give you a wonderful sight of the capital and the three lakes, Tulsi, Vihar, and Powai. You will also have a chance to walk around the biodiversity of the interiors of the park, which is otherwise only allowed with permission. If you’re lucky enough, you can also spot some forest birds like White-browed Bulbul, Puffthroated Babbler, Purple Sunbird, and Indian Grey Hornbill. Charges are Rs 900 for non-members. The cost includes bus from SGNP main gate, permit fees from the forest department , entry to SGNP, and BNHS expertise. You are requested to carry packed food and water.
