Travelling to Andaman? You Need a Negative RT-PCR Report

Amid the alarming Covid-19 situation in the country, with cases rising owing to the Omicron variant, the Andaman and Nicobar Administration has taken measures to cap the cases in the region. For travellers to the union territory, a negative RT-PCR test report has been made mandatory for all air passengers. 

The Health and Civil Aviation Secretary of the administration released an order that has asked all passengers (two years and above), including those who are partially or fully vaxxed, to show a negative PCR test report not older than 48 hours before departure.

The order read: “In view of the recent increase in the number of Covid-19 cases including the detection of Omicron variant cases in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and in order to effectively manage the challenge arising out of the same, the authorities have taken this decision in the interest of public health”.

Additionally, all passengers who have a history of foreign travel in the last 30 days, all partially and fully vaccinated passengers shall also be tested for Covid-19 by RT-PCR at the Port Blair airport. These passengers will have to isolate themselves till the results of the test are declared. India has reported 90,928 cases in the last 24 hours.
