Readers of Indian and world literature from across the world can now rejoice, and then proceed to bury themselves further in their book. The ZEE Jaipur Literature Festival, India&rsquos largest literary event of its kind, is taking off from its base in Rajasthan and soon popping up in Adelaide, Australia and Houston, USA.
These offshore events of the JLF would be true to the format of the actual event, although as part of a larger event. There would be talks by speakers, panel discussions, interactive workshops and even musical performances to bring an end to the day.
In Australia, JLF is collaborating with OZAsia Festival, a literature festival focused on celebrating the stories and voices from South Asia. A few prominent speakers that are attending this edition of JLF are acclaimed novelist Anita Nair, Devdutt Pattanaik, Eka Kurniawan (of Beauty is a Wound), William Dalrymple, among others. The event is taking place between November 9-11th 2018.
From September 14-15 2018, JLF is making its debut in Houston in a partnership between Teamwork Arts, Asia Society Texas Center, Inprint, and the Consulate General of India. The event will have authors and speakers such as Chitra Divakaruni, Sonal Mansingh, and Namita Gokhale (who is a co-organiser of the event) attending. Indian politician and writer Shashi Tharoor is expected to attend this event in Houston as well.
The next editions in the US will follow right after from September 19-20 in New York and Boulder, Colorado from September 21-23.
In the past, the event has been associated on a global level under the helm of JLF International, collaborating with platforms such as British Library in London, and at Asia Society in New York.
