The UP police has admitted that it botched up the initial investigations into the Noida double murder. Director General of Police Vikram Singh told Outlook, "I have no qualms admitting that the local police goofed up in the primary investigations. Their failure to carry out a thorough check around the crime scene was their biggest blunder...as a result of which the body of Hemraj went unnoticed."

He said the Noida police may have concentrated on arresting Hemraj who was initially thought to be the murder suspect. As Singh puts it: "Our cops got carried away and focused their energies on tracking down Hemraj because the Talwars felt the servant was the culprit. Perhaps the local police also did not want to dishearten the visibly shaken family; yet there's no reason why...
