With 28 MLAs how do you propose to form the government?

How long could it take?
Maybe a week, maybe a month, maybe one-and-a-half months. A government can’t be formed in a day.

Has the process already started?
We’ve appealed to the 18 MLAs who were with the Mahagujarat Janata Party to return. We’ve told them that the BJP no longer has power, bungalows, flasher red lights, and that they’re not bonded labour to be kept under lock and key. If they think so, they can come with a clear conscience.

What role do you see for yourself?
I’ll work for a future where every state in Hindustan retains its pride, culture and identity. Regionalism will be most important. People are fed up of obeying a high command in Delhi. The Centre should give more power to the states. Gujarat’s high command must remain in Gujarat.

How do you justify the dismissal of the Suresh Mehta government when the BJP had proved its majority?
They had an "artificial" majority. They counted 93 when there were 87 in the Assembly. The Opposition was thrown out and in the disorder they passed a confidence motion, which was not on the agenda. The condolence motion to the late speaker was given the go-by. VHP men came into the House along with plainclothesmen who are not supposed to be there. And then, when their government was dismissed for all this unconstitutional, antisocial behaviour, these believers in violence go to the ashram of the high priest of peace (Mahatma Gandhi) and take a pledge to return to power!
