"The Bsp Is A Party Of Upstarts"

Some JD leaders like Sharad Yadav were opposed to the idea of aligning with Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Sharad Yadav had a two-hour discussion with me. Why didn't he bring this up with me?

What about Laloo Prasad Yadav's attitude?

I am sure he will not object. Anyway, we are getting Laloo and Mulayam to sit together and thrash the matter out.

There is no question of thinking of an alliance with the BSP. How can we have any pact with a party which has abused Mahatma Gandhi? The BSP is a party of upstarts who have no sense of history. We can only consider an alliance if they apologise publicly for their statements against Mahatma Gandhi.

What are V.P. Singh's views on the situation in Uttar Pradesh?

Mr V.P. Singh's view is that we have to be realistic. He is for an understanding with Mulayam Singh. I have asked him to personally supervise the arrangements in Uttar Pradesh as he knows the state best.

Obviously Mulayam Singh will be the senior partner. But tickets will be given on the basis of merit.
