Dinakar was a member of the crisis management team when Rajkumar was abducted by Veerappan from his farmhouse on July 30, 2000. The retired cop has spared none and there’s only vitriol reserved for all in his book—from IPS and IAS officers, politicians of every party to chief minister S.M. Krishna, his cabinet colleagues, his son-in-law V.G. Siddartha and the abducted matinee idol himself.
Krishna and Srinivasulu have announced legal action against the retired cop. Srinivasulu told the press: "He (Dinakar) is a mad man. Every copy of his book must be consigned to flames. I’m considering going to a court. It is being legally examined how defamatory the contents are." The government has also referred the case to the legal department to see if Dinakar can be prosecuted under the Official Secrets Act.
