Why Bollywood over old school/gangsta rap?

I try mix lyrics with popular, hip hop or Punjabi break beats. The Indian audience takes well to Bollywood, humour and poetry.

How was being a Channel V VJ and working for VH1 Hip Hop Hustle?

Fantastic, as was opening a show for Mobb Deep and Akon. But my 32-city tour, Jack it up with MCSid, was the best experience. I performed at every major night club in India.

Why did you move on to performing at destination weddings?

I was doing my MBA, when I was called in to perform at a wedding in Mumbai. Since then I’ve been invited to big-ticket destination weddings in Australia, Thailand, US, Mauritius and Spain.

What’s been your greatest challenge?

The dual act of crowd management and entertainment is tough.

How do you work your tricks on women?

Women love it when they are complimented and compared to movie stars. Reactions go from surprise to sarcasm to love.

Were you a show-stealer of sorts from your schooldays itself?

Once I was listening to an Eminem tape and could come up with gibberish to impress girls. My acts in school and college were hits.

How tough is rap for aspiring artistes?

You need to develop great networking skills and grab eyeballs. A rap performance is like putting poetry to music.

How’s it like to impress through humour and appear constantly happy?

At times I want to just hide in bed. It’s not easy to be looking for new people to entertain.

Other passions?

I’m a big foodie and like to travel too.

What’s next?

I’m trying to create a Calvin and Hobbes strip based on myself. I also want to give Honey Singh a run for his money.
