Was Breathless a surprise?
The final product was surprising.

A successful experiment...
Yes. We wanted a song that started and ended in one go.

You also relied heavily on Indian classical music.
It was based on a number of raags done in a funky music.

But why this 'experiment'?
Labour of love, probably.

You did away with traditional formats too.
We improvised on raag Yaman. That made the difference.

Did the presence of names like Javed Akhtar help?
I just gave Javed saheb a meter and he wrote to it. Amazing!

You have another experiment in Rydhun?
Yes in the sense that there are no musical instruments.

Why this shift from jazz?
Both have the same scales. They are just named differently.

You're also doing a lot of film songs.
I am working on two films: Kuch Na Kaho and Abhay.

You experiment there too?
Definitely. There's always a distinct difference in all my music.
