How will these games be different for India?
Better than the last. We've made a lot of progress since then.
Our medal prospects?
Jaspal Rana, Abhinav Bindra, Anjali Vedpathak, K.M. Beenamol and so many others. I also expect the hockey team to retain its gold.
What have been our preparations for Busan?
We've been training very intensively for the last two years.
Do we have the infrastructure to host big meets?
Certainly. We have a very good chance of hosting the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
Many say Indians do well at the Commonwealth Games, but fail at the Asiads. Comment.
In shooting and women's lifting, Asian standards are as good as world standards. But even then we have won gold in trap, double trap, center fire and some others.
How forthcoming has been government support for sports?
It has really helped us. But more help in terms of camps and funds for sportspersons are always welcome. mncs have also been forthcoming.
Where do you expect India to finish in the medals tally?
I would say top five or six.
A rough guess. How many medals will India win?
Always tough to put a number, but we should go well beyond 35, including the seven gold we got last time.
Will Japan or Korea be able to dethrone China this time?
I feel China have the edge in terms of total medals.
Is doping a menace for Indian sports?
Not at all. We're among the cleanest in this regard.
