Is this your big chance after Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein?
Yes. It's a solo Hindi film after a long time.

Can you cook in real life?
I'm fantastic at cooking up stories. In the kitchen, I can at best make tea and a badly shaped dosa.

Who cooks at home?
Domestics hired by my wife or recommended by my relatives.

What is your favourite food?
Potato. It is my saviour when I go abroad. It should be declared a worldwide staple.

You are an educated urbanite. How easy was it to play a rural cook?
I hail from a small town, Jamshedpur. From childhood, I've been constantly surrounded by people who are not so urban.

How did you prepare to play a cook deft at handling kitchen appliances?
It was a challenge. But fortunately, there are very few cooking scenes in the movie.

What is Ramji's special recipe in the film?
Gajar halwa without sugar. It's designed for diabetics. Nobody is in the world should be deprived of the joys of eating.

What's cooking on the Mani Ratnam front?
A Tamil film, Thambi. I play a powerful person who believes in employing 'controlled' violence to counter violence.
