After Star Trek, why did you stop shining?
Every star, whether it's Harrison Ford or Robert De Niro, is remembered by one film. Persis is a star in the sky—how can a star be forgotten when all you have to do is look up and see her.
Why did Talk of the Town become the talk of the town?
For all the wrong reasons—it never went on air.
Are all other chat shows canned as far as you are concerned?
Well, I have signed a film for Bollywood, haven't I?
From Hollywood to Bollywood—isn't that a comedown for a star?
I was a star even before I left India. In any case, for an actor, getting work is important.
Since the industry prefers 'meaty' roles as compared to mature roles for women, where do you fit in?
The role offered to me is challenging and different from anything that I have done abroad. I'm working on my Hindi and my dances.
Dances? Are you going to prance around trees and get typecast?
I love what I do and I'm not doing anything either for money or for the sake of some unfulfilled ambition. So there's no question of getting typecast.
Is there anything you are afraid of?
Nothing. I know that nobody can become a star without a team.
What if your outspokenness lands you out of the job?
I don't backstab and if something pisses me off, I say it in no uncertain terms.
Who will your hero in reel life be?
Khafa will have me playing the role of a strong woman—not a vamp. My co-stars are Milind Soman, Sonali Bendre, Kader Khan and Rahul Dev. Directed by Anant Balani and produced by Vivek Vaswani and Bhiku Patel, we start shooting next month. The movie will be released by the year end. I'm afraid I can't disclose who my hero will be.
And in real life?
There's nobody right now in my life. I like it that way.
