Nearly two years after Guwahati’s Borjhar airport was designated and renamed as Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, an Air India flight to Bangkok started operating from this northeast city, April 4 onwards.

So far, passengers from the northeast had to fly to Calcutta to change flights. Now, they can get to Japan, Europe and the US by taking the connecting flights from Bangkok and Mumbai. The route taken by the once-a-week flight is Mumbai-Calcutta-Guwahati-Bangkok on Mondays and Bangkok-Guwahati-Calcutta-Mumbai on Mondays.
