Drug busts seem to be the bane of Mumbai’s glitterati. On October 24, the Dubai police arrested four of the in-crowd in a raid where 5 gms of charas was recovered. A week later, Bonito Chhabria, son of automobile designer Dilip Chhabria, and film moghul G.P. Sippy’s grandson Shaan Uttamsingh, were released after drug tests showed up negative. But Farhan Azmi, son of Samajwadi Party MP and state unit president Abu Asim Azmi and his friend Prasad Diwadkar (both of whom reportedly tested positive) are still in custody. The four had gone to Dubai to attend a car racing event, renting a room at the notorious Imperial Suites hotel in which underworld dons Iqbal Mirchi and Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Anees are said to have a stake.
