Mission 272

Mission 272

How the mobile phone, through SMSs, Twitter, WhatsApp and other applications, was the most important tool to connect to the voters in Election 2014

Mission 272 Mission 272

Much before the Modi blitzkrieg began, the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IMAI) had done a survey saying that the key to winning the 2014 Lok Sabha polls lay in wooing voters online. The survey laid especial emphasis on facebook and twitter users, pointing out that of the 543 Lok sabha constituencies, at least 160 constituencies were those that could easily be called, "highly influenced by social media." Another 67 constituencies, the survey said fell under the category of ``moderate impact’’ and even though this would make for a largely urban population, IMAI was sure that whichever political party managed to woo this category of voters, would be the party to have an edge in the Lok Sabha battle of 2014.
