Fashion designers are getting a bit jaded by the continuous focus on Varanasi themed fashion shows. As everyone knows, it is Prime Minister Modi’s constituency and the pilot for any new project in the country. Over the past year, there have been numerous fashion shows with the Varanasi theme, from Lakme fashion Week to the Amazon India Fashion Week. Days after the “Weaves of Ban­aras” were celebrated in Make In India week in Mum­bai in January, top fashion designers were yet again asked to come up with a Varanasi theme. Perhaps they should be asked to re-read The Emperor’s New Clothes?
