Our audience doesn't think we overdid Diana. I am quite confident of that.

Nearly 100 cameras for Diana's funeral, only nine or ten for Mother?
The comparison isn't fair. For Diana's funeral, we were the host broadcaster. We gave live feeds to others. So the scale was larger. For Mother, DD was the host.

BBC's been getting uplink rights in India rather frequently of late.
We would like to be judged by what we show. We are not seeking an unfair advantage over anybody.

Do you expect BBC's new Indian strand to work?
It's a bold step. The three new shows—Question Time India, India Business Report Midweek and Style!—will be the first step in regionalising our channel.

Won't your traditional audience be put off?
I'm sure the shows will appeal to our current viewers.

But what happens if one of these shows fails?
It'll run for at least 13 weeks and then be replaced by another...
