Wanna tattoo? Come to Funky Monkey, an exclusive tattoo and design studio, launched recently in the swish dlf City Centre in Gurgaon. The studio is the initiative of Hardy Mehta, who runs a youth advertising firm, and Mickey, a Bangalore-based exporter of fashion garments. "The art is emerging as a lifestyle statement for all age groups," says a studio spokesperson. Just look at Raveena Tandon, whose tattoos today are as much a talking point as her films. And not just Gen Y, Funky Monkey has something for corporate head honchos too. Hygiene is a byword here and the use of sterilised needles a precondition for any form of body piercing. Tattoo artiste Giovanni Di Francesco who specialises in Oriental and Japanese designs has been brought in from Italy. The studio also has a pret collection, chappals, belts and accessories to complement the tattoos. Prices are from Rs 3,000 onwards for a design and varies depending on design and colours used.
