The fashion community, which has been keenly tracking every nasty soundbite in an ongoing territorial spat between Lakme and the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), is deeply divided over whether this is ultimately a good or a bad thing for the industry.

As anyone who follows the fashion headlines knows by now, the parting of ways over sponsorship negotiations has resulted in the two former collaborators announcing two fashion weeks each. Lakme and its event manager IMG will host two LFWs in Mumbai and FDCI will also host two India Fashion Weeks (IFW)—one each in Delhi and Mumbai.
