For deflating trolls over women’s rights and consensual sex. The CPI(ML) politburo member, an activist unafraid of battle scars, set off a little social media storm when she responded to an FB post which slammed her for having said on a TV channel that one can only pity people who fear ‘free sex’ because ‘un-free sex’ is nothing but rape. The trolls duly responded with misogynist remarks like: “Ask your mother/daughter whether she had free-sex (sic).” Her response: “Er, yes, my mother did. Hopefully so did yours. Because if the woman is not free, it is not sex but rape.” But it was Kavita’s mother, Lakshmi Krishnan, who brought the house down with her words: “Of course I had free sex. I should jolly well hope so! As and when I wanted, with the person I wanted. I fight for every woman and man to have sex according to their consent. Never unfree, never forced.” Kavita reposted it with pride: “My mum’s kickass reply to trolls.”
In Praise Of Kavita Krishnan
