There are distinct rumblings within the BJP’s Andhra unit. After chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu flexed his muscle over Gujarat, the BJP has decided to issue what is been seen here as a veiled threat to its ally TDP. BJP president Jana Krishnamurthy said in Hyderabad: "We’re friendly with the TDP only to the extent they are with us...."
Never quite comfortable with the high command’s decision to align with the TDP in Andhra during the last elections, the BJP state unit loses no opportunity to up its anti-Naidu campaign. This was last evidenced when it backed the Telengana demand, much to Naidu’s chagrin. Partymen are now upset at the TDP getting all the credit for several welfare schemes launched with generous central aid.
