Sham Lal turns 90, glad tidings for SRK, Salman's international venture in trouble and Nagesh Kukunoor's latest offering.

We wish him many happy returns of the day. The doyen of Indian editors, Sham Lal, celebrated his 90th birthday last week in the company of many friends and admirers...William Dalrymple’s new book, White Mughals, which has been fetching him many rave reviews, will be launched with a lot of fanfare this week...Bollywood’s Badshah also has reasons to rejoice. First, Devdas was picked up as the Indian entry to the Oscars which makes Shahrukh catch up in the race with Aamir. Next, SRK also managed to bag the lead role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s new venture. We hear the maverick director had also been seriously considering casting Salman in the thriller...Talking of Salman, his dream international venture seems to be in some trouble of sorts. According to the grapevine, Preity Zinta has nixed the role in the film...After Hyderabad Blues and Rockford, Nagesh Kukunoor is now coming up with a film with a Hindi name. Teen Deewarein has an interesting cast of Juhi Chawla, Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Jackie Shroff.
