There has been a hoax call too many. Frustrated after a series of false bomb threats, Nagpur’s new police chief J.Y. Umranikar has decided to crack the whip. He has directed that those caught crying wolf be asked to cough up the money spent by the police in responding to a hoax call. The fine for a hoax call depends on the number of policemen attending to the call. Umranikar is confident that the new scheme will cut hoax calls and ensure that people check some basics before rushing to the police.
