When asked to write this piece, I did my usual thing of ringing up a few friends who know more about the subject than I do. The subject in this case being 'women', I rang up a few women friends, specifically women who have worked around feminist issues over some time. Some of these friends have talked me through different ideas for other writings, but this time, to a man, they refused to help.
"Women, huh? What do you know about women? Why don't you write about cricket instead?" One of them chortled.
