'Bapu, Why Did You Leave Us?': Samajwadi Party Leader Feroz Khan Cries His Heart Out On Gandhi Jayanti

Samajwadi Party leader Feroz Khan and his aides did not celebrate it; they cried their hearts out, asking 'Bapu, why did you leave us?'

India celebrated 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on Wednesday. But Samajwadi Party leader Feroz Khan and his aides did not celebrate it; they cried their hearts out, asking 'Bapu, why did you leave us?'

In a video that has been widely shared on social media, the Samajwadi Party leader is seen lowering his head at a statue of Gandhi in Sambhal city of Uttar Pradesh. With a handkerchief in hand, Khan wipes off his tears (not visible in the video) and sobs. While others try to console him, he keeps wailing over the demise of Gandhi decades ago.

The video shows one of Khan's aides resting his head on the plinth and weeping with his eyes closed. Khan does not stop at wailing. Then he addresses the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and says: 'Why did you leave us after granting us independence?'

At this lamentation by Khan, his emotional aide again breaks down and mutters 'Gandhi, Gandhi' while staring upwards at the statue.

As the camera traces the gaze upwards, it captures a man on a staircase, leading to the statue, staring below at this bizarre incident and smiling.
