With the motto 'Empowering Educators, Enriching Students,' the association advocates for policy reforms, drives innovation in education, and works to safeguard the interests of coaching professionals while enhancing learning outcomes for students.

Prajesh Trotsky, President, Maharashtra Class Owners' Association (MCOA)

Founded in 2000, Maharashtra Class Owners’ Association (MCOA) represents more than 5,000 coaching class owners and educators. With the motto “Empowering Educators, Enriching Students,” the association advocates for policy reforms, drives innovation in education, and works to safeguard the interests of coaching professionals while enhancing learning outcomes for students.

During Teacher’s Day Celebration & Awards Ceremony, September 13, 2025, the Maharashtra Class Owners’ Association (MCOA) unveiled the Maha Mock Test — a statewide mock examination initiative for MH-CET and JEE aspirants. We spoke with MCOA President Mr. Prajesh Trotsky and Klasy Innovations Founder & CEO Mr. Sameer Vakharia about the thinking, scale and expected impact behind this landmark programme.”

Q1. Congratulations on the Maha Mock Test announcement. In one sentence, what does this initiative aim to achieve?

Prajesh: Maha Mock Test aims to democratize high-quality exam practice across Maharashtra so every student — urban or rural — can experience international standard testing and get actionable remedial support.
Sameer: We want realistic exam simulation plus targeted feedback, so students and teachers can close learning gaps before the actual JEE and MHT-CET.

Q2. Why launch this on Teacher’s Day — and why is that timing important?

Prajesh: Launching on Teacher’s Day is our tribute to educators who shape future generations — it reflects the belief that great testing complements great teaching. Strategically, the timing ensures students receive early guidance and targeted preparation ahead of critical exams like JEE (January & April) and MHT-CET (May), allowing for timely interventions and stronger outcomes.
Sameer: It links the educator community with an outcome-oriented tool — supporting teachers with data and students with confidence.

Q3. How will the Maha Mock Test be different from existing mock tests?

Prajesh: Scale and standard. Over 5,000 coaching classes are collaborating to bring Prometric’s testing credibility and CBS Foundation’s presentation to Maharashtra — making the experience nearer to the real exam for far more students.
Sameer: Plus, the initiative couples exam simulation with remedial diagnostics and remote follow-ups so the mock isn’t just assessment — it’s a cycle of improvement.

Q4. Accessibility: How will students from remote districts participate?

Sameer: From Year-1, Maha Mock Test will be accessible across 11+ cities/districts through our secure partner network and exam-centre infrastructure. Students from even remote districts can register on equal timelines, with the option to take 2 free remotely secure at-home tests. By Year-2, the service will expand to nearly all JEE testing locations, ensuring that every student—from metros to interiors—gets authentic practice and post-assessment support...

Prajesh: Registration and timelines are being synced so students from Nagpur to Nandurbar can register and benefit equally. For remote districts too, the practice of getting into a nearby “Testing” district will act as a great practice for the JEE exam-day. Additionally, 2 free ‘at-home’ tests which are remotely administered will also be included in the package for students to benefit

Q5. What are the Fees, how and by when can students register?

Prajesh: The registration fee has been kept very student-friendly. For MCOA member classes, the fee is only Rs.350 per student, while for non-member classes it is Rs.885 per student. Registrations are already open and will close on Children’s Day, November 14 – reinforcing our commitment to give students the right opportunity at the right time. Students can register through their respective coaching classes or directly via MCOA.

Q6. MCOA announced FORCE and partnerships during the event. How will these help tackle policy issues like the Coaching Class Regulation Bill or GST?

Prajesh: FORCE unites registered coaching bodies for one voice on policy. With coordinated advocacy and data from initiatives like Maha Mock Test, we’ll present evidence-based proposals to policymakers on regulation and tax fairness.

Q7. Technically and operationally, what role does Klasy Innovations play in Maha Mock Test?

Sameer: Maha-Mock is the brain-child of Klasy, from ideation to partnerships to implementation partner selection. Klasy has partnered with an American MNC which is specialized in global assessments software and will soon be their exclusive strategic partners for Maharashtra. We will be making a joint Press-Release about the strategic partnership, soon.

Q8. How will Klasy ensure test validity, security and the quality of remedial insights?

Sameer: By following rigorous test design protocols, using secure delivery infrastructure, proctoring best-practices, and deploying analytics that turn item-level performance into teacher-actionable remediation reports.

Q9. Are there plans to scale this model beyond Maharashtra?

Sameer: If the Maharashtra pilot succeeds in reach and impact, our model is replicable — the core is partnership between coaching networks and technology providers to deliver standardized, high-quality mocks.
