A nursing college hostel in Kerala has barred its students from shutting their doors, even if they are changing clothes. A directive, one among the bizarre set of rules issued by the college, has allegedly asked students to not lock the doors of their rooms as they might use their mobile phones and engage in homosexual activities.

The Upasana college of Nursing in Kerala's Kokum district, run by billionaire businessman Ravi Pillai, had also asked its students to not access internet in the library as they might watch porn.

It has also been alleged that the students were not allowed to keep a phone and were only given permission to use a common phone for a few minutes on alternate days or once a week.

Times Now reported that students have been protesting against the principal for the last 4 days for allegedly harassing students from lower castes and imposing many such heavy rules and fines on them making it a suffocating environment.

Students alleged that the principal also ridiculed students in the name of caste. Recently, Kerala Law Academy in Thiruvananthapuram was also on the boil over caste-shaming by its principal. The students were on the warpath for weeks demanding principal Lekshmi Nair’s sacking.
