In another major development, billionaire Elon Musk has asked Twitter users to brace themselves for a drop in their ‘followers’ count. This is because the SpaceX CEO has said that Twitter is deactivating/cancelling all accounts that have not been used for a very long time.

Taking to Twitter, Elon Musk said that all the accounts that have not been used in several years, will be taken down soon by Twitter. Hence, if one notices a drop in followers count, they need not worry.

“We’re purging accounts that have had no activity at all for several years, so you will probably see follower count drop,” Elon Musk said in his official tweet.

After several changes like the one mentioned above, Elon Musk has also announced that Twitter will not be claiming any revenue from Twitter subscription feature for the first 12 months. In a bid to support content creators, Musk has taken this call.

However, after a period of these 12 months, Twitter would start claiming this revenue but at a mere 10 per cent.

The several moves announced by Twitter come as a part of the larger changes that Elon Musk wants to bring to Twitter in a bid to democratise the platform more or to make it an ‘everything app.’ Recently, even legacy blue ticks were removed by the social media giant but reinstated for some people.
