Chasing 143 for victory, Virat Kohli (30 not out off 17) smashed a six in the 18th over to help India beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets with 15 balls to spare at Indore

After the Guwahati wash-off, a dominant India thrashed Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the second T20I match at Indore with skipper Virat Kohli hitting the winning runs, a six on Tuesday.

Chasing 143 for victory, Kohli (30 not out off 17) smashed a six in the 18th over to seal the deal for the rampaging hosts with 15 balls to spare.

Lahiru Kumara delivered a shortish ball at 147.4kph, but Kohli used the pace to guide it over long-leg boundary for a six.

In the process, Kohli also brought up 1000 T20I runs as captain.

K.L. Rahul scored 45, Shreyas Iyer got 34 and the returning Shikhar Dhawan made 32 as India never really looked in any sort of trouble.

Earlier, bowlers put up a good show with Shardul Thakur taking three wickets. Navdeep Saini and Kuldeep Yadav claimed a brace each as India resricted Sri Lanka to 142/9.

Third and final T20I match is scheduled for Friday at Pune.
